Cocina del Charro at Old California Restaurant Row Serves Up the Finest in Mexican Food to North County Diners

SAN MARCOS, CA — September 28, 2010 — Named one of North County’s top Mexican restaurants in in a recent Reader’s Choice Poll, Cocina del Charro’s location in San Marcos’ historic Old California Restaurant Row, large outside patio and full bar, where the zesty margaritas and ice-cold cervezas meet an endless choice of authentic Mexican dishes.

Cocina del Charro opened its second Mexican restaurant at Old California Restaurant Row in 2007 and has quickly become one of the areas top Mexican eateries. The first restaurant has been a dining institution in Escondido for more than 30 years. The original Cocina del Charro, opened in Escondido by Jose and Norma Monforte, has been serving fantastic Mexican food in North County since 1978. The Old California location is owned by Monforte’s three sons (who all grew up in San Marcos), and operated by General Manager Erik Monforte.

Cocina del Charro features a Happy Hour Monday through Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with specials on Margaritas, Mexican and domestic draft beers, and appetizer favorites, like Nachos Supreme and Carne Asada Tacos, at great prices. The restaurant also features Early Bird Specials Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. with special discounted prices on popular entrees like Carne Asada Del Charro, Beef or Chicken Fajitas, Cancun Burrito and Shrimp or Combo Fajitas, along with specials on Mexican and domestic beers.
Cocina del Charro features tasty lunch and dinner favorites highlighted by Carnitas, Carne Asada del Charro, Cilantro Mahi Mahi, Surf and Turf, and the famous Cancun Burrito. There’s a Create Your Own Combination menu and yummy A La Carte selections for diners to mix and match such favorites as tacos, enchiladas, tamales and tostadas. Cocina del Charro also features catering for private parties, in house banquets and a private room for business functions.

Their Sunday Brunch served from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., features both Mexican and American favorites, with an Omelet Station, Fruit and Salad Bar; Entrees include Chile Rellenos, Chile Colorado, Cheese Enchiladas, and more; plus a Dessert Station with a variety of cakes, flan, and soft serve ice cream. Reservations are recommended for parties of eight or more.
