MMC Works with Mudroom Backpacks

MMC has been retained to manage a national marketing public relations program for Mudroom Backpacks, an industry leader in commuter/travel backpacks. Mudroom’s Quartable 18L backpack designed for bicyclists features specially patented footwear compartments that can hold shoes up to US-sized 14 (EU sized-52) separate from a laptop, tablet and internal storage; feature interior and exterior access; and are made of a fabric which prevents moisture and dirt from getting into the main compartment. In addition, the backpack features side-zipper access to the laptop compartment for airport travel, and hydration compatibility for 2L water bladder with a back-panel opening for hose and bite valve access. Silhouetted and contoured, Mudroom’s Quartable 18L backpacks maintain their shape and can even stand upright on its own, while padded shoulder straps and an adjustable chest strap distribute weight for comfort.

Additional features include including phone and pen pockets, cord storage, internal stretch mesh pockets for added storage. Mudroom backpacks are reinforced with triple stitching (called bar-tacking) in high-stress areas like the shoulder straps and haul straps. Shoulder straps hold firm as the pack is weighed down, and bottom and side pockets are padded to protect internal electronics and contents. The backpack weighs only 1.8 pounds (.82kg) and provides up to 26L (1,600cu.in.) of storage with an external dimension of 18.5”x13.5”x6 (47x34x15cm). The electronics sleeve accommodates up to a 15.5” laptop and 11”x9” tablet.

Mudroom founder and CEO David Deioma said his backpack design inspiration came from his desire to simply carry a pair of shoes to work while avoiding cross-contamination from footwear and a laptop. “In my case, I needed a solution for bicycle commuting to work while wearing cycling cleats and carrying a pair of office shoes separately from laptops, electronics and my lunch. Enter Mudroom Backpacks: a single solution with multi-use versatility.”

Deioma, a former ski bag designer and avid cyclist, added that the name “Mudroom” comes from the Midwest where homes have mud rooms for taking off soaked and dirty clothes to keep from tracking dirt and water into a home. “With growing up in Ohio with 250 days of rain, snow and clouds, the only option was to go outdoors during inclement weather to keep from driving my parents crazy, and we needed our mud room to take off filthy clothing and shoes. Fast-forward many years later while I was riding in a Bike-to-Work-Day, and the idea for Mudroom Backpacks was born!
